The hall sponsor of the organisation carried out by Young KİTVAK is Eraslan Foundation. All proceeds of the organisation will be transferred to KİTVAK's ongoing construction of KİTVAK Patient and Patient Relatives Guest House in Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. KİTVAK History The story of KİTVAK, the Foundation for the Establishment and Development of Bone Marrow Transplantation and Oncology Centre, begins in 1991. With the initiatives of Prof. Dr. Suat Çağlayan, KİT-DER was established in 1991 to provide financial and moral support to children with leukaemia and to establish a centre. KİT-DER has created funds for the health of disadvantaged sick children by organising different artistic and cultural activities with the slogan "Living is beautiful with our children!". Transition from association to foundation... In 1995, the Association planned a major project and decided to establish a foundation. The Foundation for the Establishment and Development of a Bone Marrow Transplantation and Oncology Centre was established under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Suat Çağlayan, with the short name of "KİTVAK", by bringing together 53 people who believed in this purpose, including the then Governor of Izmir, Mr. Kutlu Aktaş and his wife, the late Tülay Aktaş. The targeted project is to establish an oncology hospital as soon as possible. As a result of the application made to the rectorate for the hospital planned to be built within Ege University, land was allocated within Ege University. Our founding members, Eng. Architect A. Orhan Akbaş prepared the architectural project with great care and for the benefit of the foundation. Construction began in November 1996 with a groundbreaking ceremony attended by then President Süleyman Demirel, Governor Kutlu Aktaş and guests. Later, the Board of Directors named the hospital Tülay Aktaş Oncology Hospital. The hospital was officially opened on 18 May 2004 in the presence of a large group of benefactors and protocol. Since its foundation, KİTVAK has supported children and adults suffering from cancer in line with its purpose. KİTVAK has focused all its efforts and opportunities on giving happiness and love to our people whose hope for life has been broken. The E.U. Paediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Unit located in Ege University Tülay Aktaş Oncology Hospital, which is the biggest work of KİTVAK, has been one of the two centres in Turkey to be accredited by the European Transplant Association. The other two works of KİTVAK are the Patient and Patient Relatives Guesthouses planned for both Ege University and Dokuz Eylül University Hospitals. The guesthouse for Ege University was completed, delivered and put into service. Currently, the construction of the Dokuz Eylül Hospital Guest House is underway. |
