Exemplary Community Service Work of High School Youth
Private Aegean High School 9th and 10th grade students started their 25 hours of community service work in charity organisations determined by the school every year. Community service activities aim to raise young people as individuals who are sensitive to the environment and society, who are aware of social problems and who can produce solutions.
With the contributions of Eraslan Foundation, students from Private Egeli support charity organisations such as KİTVAK and EÇEV, as well as the "Friendly Market" and "Clothes Bank" projects carried out by the Red Crescent and Bornova Municipality, which are important projects in reaching those in need. With the slogan "A Package for My Project", the students donated the dry food they collected at school to the Friendly Market as a community service work. Eraslan Foundation Board Member Ebru Eraslan also made various contributions to support the meaningful work of the students.
Not content with making donations, the students carried the food they collected to the supermarket, arranged them on the shelves with their own hands and fulfilled various tasks assigned to them in the store. Students who voluntarily worked in the supermarket for half a day were appreciated.
Bornova Mayor Olgun Atila and Aylin Musluoğlu, Principal of Private Aegean High School, inaugurated the study, which will be conducted by the Guidance Unit of Private Aegean High School and attended by different class groups in certain weeks. The Mayor congratulated the young people from Private Aegean High School one by one and awarded them with a certificate of appreciation for their exemplary work.
Aylin Musluoğlu, Principal of Private Aegean High School, said: "I am proud of my students who spend their Saturdays doing community service instead of resting. Private Aegean High School, which endeavours to educate future community leaders and opinion leaders, shows that this claim is not just words. I wholeheartedly congratulate our young people. Our community service activities will continue at full speed with the contributions of the Eraslan Foundation."
The Friendly Market Project, supported by our school, provides families with limited means the opportunity to buy free of charge from this market up to the amount of credit granted to them. The Clothes Bank is a project where second-hand or new clothes are delivered to people in need.
