Preschool Workshop Opens Its Doors for the 7th Time
Özel Ege High School’s traditional Preschool Workshop was held for the seventh time on Saturday, February 28, 2015, on the school campus with the contributions of the Eraslan Foundation. The workshop, which provided an interactive learning environment, attracted great interest from teachers.
With 164 participants from 22 schools across İzmir and Manisa, the event featured Educator and Consultant Doğan Güneş Önder, who delivered a presentation on “Communication and Problem-Solving Techniques.” Approaching education and communication from a unique perspective, Önder engaged participants with striking insights about the quality of education and its reflection in real life.
In a parallel session, Dr. Banu Özevin, Lecturer at Dokuz Eylül University’s Buca Faculty of Education, Department of Fine Arts Education, Division of Music Education, conducted a workshop on “Preschool Education and Creative Dance.”
We would like to thank our esteemed speakers for their contributions and interest in our school. In both sessions, our speakers shared valuable knowledge and experiences that shed light on the educational journeys of young teachers.
We also extend our gratitude to the administrators and teachers of the participating schools for attending this important event, organized by Özel Ege High School and the Eraslan Foundation, which aims to enhance the professional competencies of young educators.
About Doğan Güneş Önder
Born in Bartın and raised in Safranbolu, Doğan Güneş Önder graduated top of his class from Anadolu University, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Department of Educational Communication and Planning. Since beginning his professional career in 1992, he has held senior executive and board member positions in international companies. For eight years, he worked as a trainer and consultant on numerous projects under Masters Training International. During his career, he also pursued a Master’s degree in Personnel Management at Istanbul University’s Faculty of Business Administration.
He has conducted numerous long-term management development programs and trainings for senior and mid-level executives, particularly in interviewing techniques and performance management. Önder continues to deliver presentations at both national and international conferences.
About Dr. Banu Özevin
Dr. Banu Özevin completed her undergraduate studies at Istanbul University’s Department of Sociology and Dokuz Eylül University’s Buca Faculty of Education, Department of Fine Arts Education, Division of Music Education. She earned her Master’s degree from Dokuz Eylül University’s Institute of Fine Arts, Department of Musicology, and her Ph.D. from the Institute of Educational Sciences in the Music Teaching Program.
Since her introduction to Orff-Schulwerk education in 1997, she has participated in numerous national and international seminars and courses. In 2004, she attended classes as a guest student at the Orff Institute of the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria. After completing a three-year training program, she received her Orff-Schulwerk Teacher Trainer Certificate in 2011.
Dr. Özevin currently works as a lecturer at Dokuz Eylül University’s Buca Faculty of Education, Department of Fine Arts Education, Division of Music Education. She also conducts Orff-Schulwerk and Creative Dance workshops with children aged 3–10 as well as with adults.
